Jimmy WALES, Founder of WIKIPEDIA, born 1966 in Alabama, USA
Jimmy is not only the founder of the non-profit online encyclopedia WIKIPEDIA, the father of one daughter also is the holder of numerous awards and titels. In 2006 Time magazine listed him in the "Scientists & Thinkers" section as one of the 100 most influential people of our time. The Electronic Frontier Foundation awarded him a Pioneer Award. 2007 he got recognized by the World Economic Forum as one of the "Young Global Leaders". These are just a few awards of the last years.
Jimmy promotes the philosophy of objectivism. He believes in volonteerism – for example every one who wants to, can contribute to Wikipedia, sharing knowledge with others. Many see him as a person that changes the world.
