IF YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY BE COURAGIOUS AND HONEST.
Be true to your feelings. Go and take hold of your happyness. It´s your responsibility.

Serena LI, at age 39, waitress, China/India/Austria - enjoying maybe one of her happiest moments in life in Jordan.

Serena Li was born to a chinese couple, was brought up as a Buddhist in Orissa, India. At age 19 she moved to Austria where she had an arranged marriage after she has only been in that country for tree months. Her husband sent her to work as a waitress where she got paid little and had no rights to claim. She never saw any other parts of Austria then the streets she had to walk from home to the restaurant she worked in. Twenty minutes from home to the restaurant. From restaurant to home. That is the time her husband figured out she would need. No looking around. No extra time for her own. He claimed to love her. Serena endured. Til her kids were old enough.
"My kids are my life. They made me go on when things were bad. Without them I wouldn´t know what to do. My husband was never calm. He screamed a lot."

After 20 years she had the courage to break out of her marriage. It was not easy since she came from a traditional chinese Buddhist background and her mom begged her to stay in the marriage. Since she respects her parents very much it needed much courage to convince them to get a divorce. But she felt it was needed to struggle for her happyness and persue it. She has found a new love via the internet, is getting a divorce and is about to start a new life in India, where she feels she belongs. Her sons support her actions and give her strength.
