BE ENGAGED FOR OUR COMMON HUMANITY.

Adamou NDAM NJOYA, at age 57, Politician, Muslim, Foumban, Cameroon

Adamou NDAM NJOYA is a politician, lawyer, author, and professor. Brought up in a family with 12 brothers and sisters in Cameroon, Africa, he went abroad where he studied public international law and political science at the University of Paris.

Later on the father of 5 kids made his way in Politics. He became Minister of National Education from 1977 to 1980, and has been the President of the Cameroon Democratic Union (UDC) since 1991.

As Minister of National Education he attempted to introduce stringency and morality into the educational system which found many opposers. In politics he fights against corruption, stresses decentralisation of the government and respect for the rights of minorities.
Adamou, a believing muslim, is member of several boards. With a vast horizon he engages in interreligious dialogue. At the World Conference of Religions for Peace he was President (now moderator and Co-President). He is the Executive President of the Association Camarounese of Interreligious Dialogue and the Founder of an islamic religious studies Institute, to name just a few of his stepstones.

Next to politics, Adamou focuses on writing and teaching as well as donating time to philanthropic endeavors. He has written in the fields of law, political science, history, international relations and political ideas, as well as theatrical pieces, poems, and fiction.
