Karma Lekshe TSOMO, at age 65, Buddhist Nun, living in India/California/Hawaii
At age eleven Karma Lekshe decided to be a buddhist. She follows this path ever since. Since several years, the buddhist nun, that lives in San Diego, California, teaches Buddhism at University and gives talks and courses around the World, especially in India (Spiti, Kinaur, Zanskar), California and Hawaii.
The American, that was ordained as a buddhist nun in 1977, has specialized in "Women in Buddhism", "Buddhism and Bioethics", "Death and Dying". She speaks Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese and German next to her mothertongue (English).
Karma Lekshe´s activities go beyond the "normal". She was president of the www.sakyadhita.org, a foundation, that is covering the history of buddhist women and is giving women a voice.
She additionally founded the Jamyang Foundation (www.jamyang.org), where she is concerned as a president about educational projects, with a special focus on study programs for monastery schools in India and Bangladesh.
Karma Lekshe, who also engages in interfaith dialogue around the world, wants to point out the importance of loving kindness in the day to day live. Loving yourself and all living beings.
